Getting there

Take a taxi to the Stone House hotel in Yuhu Village. Walk a short way toward Dragon Girl Lake, then turn left onto the gravel path. The walk ends at the road by Ganhaizi. Arrange the return before you start.

Before you go

The high point is about 3,675 m. Walk slowly and do not run. The ridge is narrow and windy, so stay off the edge and carry a shell. The path is loose rock; wear shoes that grip and bring a pole. There is no water, food, or toilet on the route, and the phone signal is weak, so carry what you need and an offline map. Do not step on the white calcified streambed. If rain has raised the river, stay out of the deep water. Do not come down after dark.

Not this route

The Ganhaizi out-and-back that stays in the riverbed is a different route. Locke's Stone is on the ridge after the high point and before Milk Lake, not in the village. The Joseph Rock house and the walk around Dragon Girl Lake are not this hike.
