What this site is
Hike2China publishes information about walking routes in China: regions, provinces, and individual trails. Reading a page does not create a booking, a guided trip, or a client relationship.
We do not sell transport, permits, lodging, or guiding. We do not take payment on this site. If that changes, the new service will have its own terms, published before you can use it.
Using the pages
You may read the site and share links to it. You may not:
- copy pages in bulk, or present our route write-ups as your own product;
- scrape or hammer the site in a way that degrades it for other readers;
- send automated or misleading submissions through the account form or a comment;
- use the site to offer guiding, tickets, or other services as if they came from us.
Route pages are not instructions
Seasons, difficulty, access, and descriptions are planning notes. Trails, weather, tickets, and permit rules change. The hiking disclaimer explains the limits of that information. You decide whether to go, and you confirm conditions with official and local sources.
Intellectual property
The text, page structure, and site name are owned by the publisher of Hike2China unless a page says otherwise. Sharing a link is fine. Republishing a route page, or a substantial part of one, needs permission.
Photographs, when a page includes them, may belong to someone else. A credit on the page controls that image.
Other sites
A link to a park, a map, a video, or any other site is there for convenience. We do not run those sites and we are not responsible for what they publish or sell.
Accounts and comments
An account is optional. You need one to post in a discussion, reply, or mark a post useful or not useful. Posts are public under the name and account id you used. They are not a rating of the route, and they are not advice from us.
You may not post a comment that:
- impersonates another person or this site;
- is spam, an advertisement, or a bulk posting;
- harasses someone, or includes someone else’s private information.
We may remove a post, or close an account, that breaks these terms. Deleting your account removes your posts and replies and takes that email off the route notes. What we store is described in the privacy policy.
Route notes
Creating an account subscribes the account email to notes about routes. There is no separate mailing list. Deleting the account is how that address leaves the list.
Commercial mentions
Route pages include Trip.com search boxes for flights, trains, and hotels. The search runs on Trip.com. If you book through one, this site may earn a commission. The price is Trip.com’s price. That relationship is also labeled next to the search boxes.
Liability
Route information can be wrong, incomplete, or out of date. A GPX track can also stop matching the ground because of force majeure or any later change. To the extent the law allows, the publisher is not liable for loss connected with using the site, including injury, a missed connection, a refused permit, a closed trail, reliance on a description, or reliance on a track file. You decide whether that file is still usable.
Some places do not allow a publisher to exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or other rights that cannot be waived. Those rules still apply to you.
Law
These terms are published in English and are governed by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer somewhere else, protections that your local law does not allow us to exclude still apply.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page changes when we do. Continued use of the site after that date is acceptance of the update.
