Getting there

Drive, or take a taxi, to Ganhaizi.

Before you go

Do not go up in rain or snow. Wild boar are in the gorge. Black bears come out at night and hibernate in winter. Avalanches are a risk in spring and winter; in winter take snowshoes and crampons. Summer is the rainy season, with thunderstorms, debris flows, collapses, and landslides. There is no resupply on the route, so carry what you need.

Not this route

You do not need the ridge. Stay on the riverbed.
